How ProduceTabs Works

Drop · wash · rinse

A full-bowl wash, pre-measured.

ProduceTabs turns an easy-to-overthink kitchen job into three repeatable steps: one bowl, one tablet and five minutes — with a fresh-water rinse at the end.

The three-step routine

Fill the bowl

Add fresh water and the fruit or vegetables you want to wash. Use a clean bowl with room for the produce to move.

Drop one tablet

One tablet is the complete measure for one full bowl. Let it dissolve and work for five minutes.

Rinse thoroughly

Finish under fresh running water, then dry, prepare or store the produce as appropriate.

Why make it a tablet?

1 bowl

A pre-measured tablet removes the capful, scoop and spray count. The solution reaches a mixed bowl at once, while the small dry format avoids another large liquid bottle beside the sink.

Each bag contains 12 tablets: three full-bowl washes per week for roughly one month.

What the formula is built to do

The current formula highlights a plant-derived cleaner to help loosen and emulsify surface film, baking soda for the soak, citric acid for dissolution and a clear-rinse system designed to leave no tint, fragrance, taste or soapy film.

Clear water is intentional.

The tablet does not manufacture dramatic brown water. Visible dirt or film may appear, but water color alone is not a pesticide test.

What it can — and cannot — reach

Designed for the outside

  • Waxy surface film
  • Removable surface residue
  • Dirt and handling grime
  • A full bowl in one routine

Not a claim we make

  • Removing systemic residue inside the flesh
  • Sterilizing or disinfecting produce
  • Replacing safe handling or cooking
  • Turning conventional produce organic
The official baseline still matters.

The FDA recommends washing produce thoroughly under running water and says commercial produce washes are not recommended because their residues and effectiveness have not been established as a category. ProduceTabs is an optional, complete-rinse kitchen routine — not a substitute for FDA food-safety guidance. Read the FDA guidance.

Use the same three steps, handle the produce differently

Firm produce

Apples, cucumbers, peppers and similar items can be moved gently through the bowl and rinsed thoroughly.

Berries & grapes

Keep the handling light. Wash close to use when possible and dry carefully to avoid bruising and storage moisture.

Leafy produce

Separate leaves as appropriate, keep the bowl and hands clean, rinse with fresh water and dry well.
